How to tell training from a sales pitch
The real estate education business has a well-earned reputation, and most of it was earned at events that looked exactly like conventions. Four questions separate them.
Who is on stage, and what do they sell?
A speaker whose income comes from coaching sales will teach to the close. A speaker whose income comes from deals will teach the deal. Look up what each name sells before you buy the ticket.
Are the numbers specific?
Real operators quote purchase price, repair budget, monthly payment, and what the exit actually netted. Vague talk about mindset and momentum usually means there is no deal behind the story.
Is there CE credit, and who provides it?
CE hours require a TREC-approved provider, which means the curriculum was reviewed by somebody other than the person selling the seat. It is not a guarantee of quality, but it is a floor.
Can you talk to the speakers?
The useful part of a convention is usually the twenty minutes after a session. A schedule packed so tightly that speakers leave the building has quietly removed the most valuable thing you paid for.
